LA FIDANZA
HOLIDAYS IN A CORNER OF PARADISE IN THE HEART OF
TUSCANY
Picture this: Awakening to
the song of the birds, with perhaps a rooster crowing in the distance, and
planning your day while sitting on the terrace, sipping freshly brewed coffee
and looking out across the valley towards San Gimignano's
towers... You could begin with a swim in the pool in the summer months, or
with a run through the vineyards, or a stroll through woods and valley, as far
as San Gimignano. Or, you could practice yoga in the pine grove or gymnastics
at the chalet.
There are many different ways of enjoying the passage of the
hours.
- Discovering Art in the leading cities, such as Florence, Siena,
Lucca, Pisa, Volterra, Cortona, Perugia, Assisi, and Orvieto, or in the many
churches and monasteries scattered throughout the Tuscan countryside.
- Dicovering wines with visits to the famous cellars of
Montalcino and Montepulciano, or trips through the Chianti hills or the
Vernaccia vineyards, which are closer. Everywhere, wine shops offer bottles and
information about the great wines of Tuscany.
- Discovering crafts and cuisine: shops offering wood and iron
handcrafts, shops selling preserved meats and cheeses, weekly open-air markets
in town squares selling typical products, restaurants and country fairs.
- Taking long walks on the hill of Montenidoli, among its trees
and its vineyards, searching for ancient charcoal kilns, flowers and mushrooms,
according to the season, and ending up at the winery for a tasting of the wines
from the Montenidoli vineyards.
- Practicing sports: elsewhere but events can be arranged:
Cycling, riding at nearby stables, an 18-hole golf course, 20 minutes by car,
boating in Versilia or Punta Ala, at a little more than an hour's drive.
- Relaxing at home, spending the day in the garden, walking
through the vineyards and the forest of La Fidanza, taking a stroll through San
Gimignano or joining in a game of bocce, the Italian version of lawn bowls, as
the sun sets and the hollows darken... The coals of the grill glow bright red,
awaiting a steak, or, if you prefer, the pizza oven under the pine grove, as
the moon illuminates the medieval towers of San Gimignano. A day of complete
relaxation, swimming in the pool, relaxing in the sun, playing tennis or
reading a good book in the garden.
