On January 22 we celebrate Saint Vincent, the patron Saint of the vine growers.
This celebration connects the past vintage and the new one.
The young wines of the past year mature in the cellar while the pruning in the vineyards
begins our preparation of the new Vintage.
In the barrels, memories of past seasons, the fruit of a long year of labour.
In the vineyards, work for the future, full of hope and expectations.
VINTAGE 2024
WINTER mild, a warm sun, some rain, only a few days of frost.
SPRING cold in April, and only a few storms, but safe from the hail that neighbouring areas experienced. Warm days with a lot of rain in May: the vegetation exploded in an extraordinary way.
June: warm weather, it rained continuously – prompting a dangerous growth in disease
To keep our vines in good health was extremely challenging – but we were successful.
SUMMER July: warm days began after the first week, extreme heat continued, unrelenting,
up to the end of August. The vegetation did not suffer: the soil retained the past season’s humidity.
However, the early growth in the maturation of the grapes was halted and held back for a long time.
HARVEST rainy days, difficult picking between showers and storms.
An incredible abundance of fruit, all in very good shape.
AUTUMN warm dry days for a harmonious end of fermentations in the cellar
and good work in the vineyards for the new season.
PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS
The incredible richness of harvest is probably due to the warm climate and the unexpected humidity.
Less alcohol and structure, and more delicate flavours, will produce a wine for easier drinking
suited to modern taste.
NEWS
Another piece of land has been purchased near the Vineyard of the “Tre Marie”. As we found a cross
under some bushes we have named it “Il Campo della Croce”. We want to bring this land back to life.
THE FOUNDATION
With the sale of the magnums of Triassico plus generous donations, are an important help to our great aims.
